Do I need to fast?

Yes, we advise at least 8 hours fasting for reliable liver enzyme results. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the blood draw.

What if my ALAT is elevated?

A mildly elevated ALAT can be temporary (exercise, medication). Your doctor interpretation provides context and advice on next steps.

Can I drink alcohol before the test?

No, alcohol temporarily raises GGT and ASAT. Wait at least 24-48 hours after alcohol consumption.

How quickly do I receive my results?

Typically within 2 business days of blood draw.

Are more liver markers available?

Yes, through Bloodworks Select you can add additional markers such as albumin, prothrombin time (PT), or an iron profile.

Do I need a referral?

No, you order directly without a referral from your GP.

Are blood draw costs included?
