A blood test offers valuable insight into your health, but it also has limitations. We set out both honestly, so you can make a well-considered choice.

  • An abnormal value does not always mean something is wrong; sometimes it is normal for you or a recheck is needed.
  • A normal result does not rule out every condition.
  • Some findings may lead to unnecessary worry or follow-up testing.
  • A blood test is a snapshot in time and does not replace a medical diagnosis.
  • Do you have symptoms or doubts? Always discuss these with a doctor.

Do I need to fast?

For most markers in this package, fasting is recommended (8 hours), particularly for magnesium and cortisol. We recommend having your blood drawn in the morning between 7 and 10 o'clock.

Can I train intensively before the measurement?

Preferably not, intensive training temporarily raises creatine kinase and cortisol. We recommend avoiding extreme exertion for 24-48 hours before the measurement if you want a reliable baseline value.

How often should I be tested as an athlete?

A single measurement is sufficient for initial insight. For competitive athletes, 2-4 measurements per year is common.

What if I take creatine or other supplements?

Creatine supplementation can temporarily raise creatine kinase. Please let us know about supplement use so we can take this into account.

Is this package suitable for both men and women?

Yes, the package is suitable for both. Our doctor assesses values according to sex-adjusted reference ranges.

What if I follow a vegetarian or vegan diet?

With a plant-based diet, lower iron and B12 values are more common. This package gives insight into whether supplementation or dietary adjustment might be worthwhile.

What if I want more specific markers?

Through Bloodworks Select you can add markers such as folic acid, zinc, or additional hormones.

How quickly do I receive my results?

Typically within 2 business days of blood draw.
