Hormones in balance
Hormones drive energy, mood, libido, fertility and metabolism. A disturbed balance often causes vague symptoms. Blood testing can give insight into which hormones play a role.
Which hormones can be measured?
Commonly measured hormones include testosterone (in men and women), the female sex hormones, the stress hormone cortisol and the thyroid hormones. Which are relevant for you depends on your symptoms, sex and life stage. Hormone values fluctuate throughout the day and cycle; the time of sampling therefore matters.
When is hormone testing useful?
With symptoms such as persistent fatigue, reduced libido, mood swings, an irregular cycle or fertility questions, targeted testing can provide direction. An abnormal value does not explain everything; you discuss the result with a doctor, who weighs the timing and context.

Frequently asked questions
Does the time of sampling matter?
Yes. Many hormones, such as testosterone and cortisol, are highest in the morning and fluctuate during the day. For female hormones the cycle phase also matters. We advise the right moment per test.
Which hormone test suits me?
That depends on your symptoms, sex and life stage. The packages for men and women are built on the most relevant hormones; through Bloodworks Select you can add more.
What if my values are abnormal?
A doctor interprets your result in context. For significantly abnormal values we proactively make contact. Always discuss the result with your (GP) doctor.
